a. let it snow.

There's snow on the ground in the park. Lots of snow. The source? Well, some of the bots may or may not have repurposed a few of the hydration systems from one of the nonfunctional hydroponic gardens. They're currently patrolling the park with them, blasting snow in all directions. Careful not to startle them, as much as bots can be startled- you might get a very heavy hit of snow to the face.

The snow has brought ice dragons out of hiding, from wherever they've been in Anchor for the past year. They're swooping and diving in and out of snow drifts, perching on the frosted trees, nibbling on frozen branches and eating mouthfuls of snow like it's candy. A few are chasing each other in and out of the water of the pond. They're friendly, and feed them a handful or two of snow and they'll probably follow you around for a good long while.

b. the first rule of makeout club.

Snow isn't the only thing the bots are up to. A large number of them - some the residents have never seen before - are cruising around the various levels of Anchor holding a plant that looks remarkably like mistletoe. In fact, it is, of a kind. People who get caught under it will be gently compelled to do one of two things - kiss, or fight. It's quite possible to shake the compulsion, but the bots will encourage either the macking or the smacking, and promise a gift from home to the participants should they indulge in the Nondenominational Winter Holiday Event.

Of course, that's not the only way to get a seasonal gift. Some appear out of nowhere during particular moments of melancholy or homesickness, directly in the path of those feeling that way - beautifully wrapped and waiting to be torn into. The contents of each gift are no bigger than a coffee table, but each one is tailored to the receiver. And if it's not something of use to them in Anchor, it's something of value from home. Even if that value is just emotional.

c. aurora horror-ealis.

Of course, it wouldn't be Anchor if things weren't at least a little horrible, so here's a pair of events to darken a person's day:

First, there are hypnotizing auroras twisting across the sky above the dome. They seem almost alive, like serpents making their slow way through the dark in colors that have no right to exist, no name that anyone in Anchor would know.

They're beautiful. Eye-catching. Eye-holding, and the longer they're watched, the harder it will be to look away. Hallucinations come next- either your good old run-of-the-mill horrible nightmares or relived memories of particular significance to the person involved. And while they're caught in the hallucination, they'll be making their way to Anchor's exit and try to leave - without radiation equipment.

d. red-nosed reindire.

Second. It's reindire mating season.

Yep.

All over Anchor, the creatures are making horrible mating shrieky noises, attacking each other, or, y'know, fuckin'. It's loud. It's prolonged. And somehow it results in the appearance of a fully-formed reindire baby about eight hours later, stumbling around near its parents. If you can catch one, they're easy to domesticate - but look out for the adults. They're uh. Not quite keen on having their babies kidnapped.

e. the network.

Need to get hold of someone, call for help, ask the city at large a question? Need to ask a friend what you feed a baby reindire? Maybe you need to hold your sat phone up to whatever crazy thing you're seeing and send out a recording to double-check if your eyes are deceiving you and what you're looking at is real?

Whatever the reason, the network is going strong, so feel free to include a post to it in your top-levels.
