What he gets is the AI saying "Thank goodness," and a spreading carpet of fire around him, not close enough to touch, not close enough to burn, but close enough that he can feel its heat. It ripples up the walls of the room, turning the place into a hotbox around the tall, black-clad man standing at its center.
