[ Neither possibility is exactly great. Reynir doesn't even consider that it might be the side effect of something else entirely. It doesn't occur to him that Carlisle might be using this to conceal some worse secret. Reynir is honest enough that it can be hard for him to imagine a lack of it in other people.
